Petzing has contributed significantly to the offensive growth of the Arizona club during his tenure. The Cardinals were ranked No. 24 in points and No. 19 in total yards in 2023. But Arizona made a significant improvement in 2024, finishing No. 12 in points and No. 11 in yards.

Petzing had a solid coaching background prior to his stint in Arizona. He was the Minnesota Vikings' assistant coach for many years. Following head coach Kevin Stefanski to the Cleveland Browns in 2020 was his big break. Petzing was the tight ends coach there at first. When he was hired as the quarterbacks coach in 2022, his position further changed. Petzing got his current job in Arizona thanks to his achievements in Cleveland.
