Chase Claypool Injury: The Buffalo Bills have placed Chase Claypool on injured reserve after he missed most of training camp with a toe injury. Claypool hurt his toe on July 28 and hasn't been back on the field since. At first, Coach Sean McDermott said Chase Claypool's injury was "day-to-day," but it turned out to be more serious.

Chase Claypool was at Buffalo's practice on Saturday and played in the preseason game against the Chicago Bears, but he wasn't seen at Monday’s training. He still hasn’t joined the Bills for a fully padded practice.

"It’s unfortunate because some new players, including Chase, have missed a lot of time," McDermott said recently about Claypool. "It’s challenging to evaluate players when they’re not out there. I know Chase is working hard to get back, and we’re all eager to see him return."

Claypool, 26, signed a one-year deal with the Bills after the NFL draft. In just two years, the Bills became his third NFL team. He spent part of last season with the Miami Dolphins after being traded by the Bears in October.

After expressing frustration with how he was being used in the Bears' offense, Claypool was inactive for several games before being traded to Miami, where he caught only four passes in nine games.

Claypool’s NFL journey started with him spending his first two full seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his rookie season, Claypool scored a career-high 11 touchdowns along with 62 receptions for 873 yards.

In May, Claypool said, “It’s hard to come to terms with not living up to your own potential or the expectations set for you, especially over the last couple of years.” "It's a tough situation because, you know, I know there are times when it can be frustrating if I'm not playing to my potential.

"But if it's frustrating to the outside world, it's even more frustrating to me. “I understand what’s expected of me and know I haven’t fully met those goals yet, so I put in the effort each year to achieve and go beyond them.” On Tuesday, the Bills also made roster changes, adjusting the third quarterback spot after Shane Buechele sustained a neck injury in the preseason opener against the Bears.

Buechele, who spent last season on the Bills' practice squad, has been placed on injured reserve, and Buffalo signed Ben DiNucci to a one-year deal.

The Bills also injured/waived wide receiver Brian Thompson and signed one-year deals to receivers Damiere Byrd and Deon Cain.
