Prince Harry: Prince Harry's segment caused quite a stir when ABC abruptly cut off the Best Team award at the Los Angeles ESPY Awards. Viewers were frustrated, and many are pointing fingers at Joe Biden's delayed press conference for the interruption.

Viewers saw the broadcast go back to the moments before Duke accepted the Pat Tillman Award for Service.

The award, named in honor of a fallen soldier and NFL player, sparked controversy even before Prince Harry accepted it. Critics argued that giving Harry the award was "extremely bad publicity." Many even called on him to "politely decline" the award.

After Harry's segment was rebroadcast, the broadcast cut to a closing montage with credits, leaving viewers with no clue about the Best Team award. It was later revealed that the South Carolina Gamecocks were the winners.

The timing problem was blamed on President Biden, whose delayed press conference at the NATO summit caused widespread backlash. Biden's conference, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., was postponed until 6:30 p.m., but did not actually begin until an hour later. The delay also caused ABC's coverage of the ESPYs to begin 30 minutes late, leading to a missed live broadcast and eventual cutoff.

Viewers, frustrated and disappointed, voiced their confusion on X.

"I'm so confused how the ESPYs ended - someone got fired," one user tweeted.

"Because of breaking news, the #ESPYS were delayed and things really went wrong tonight," another person commented.

One added, "So #ESPYS24 showed its crappiness again. We didn't even get the full show because you cut it off until we saw who won best team. But you showed us the awards again that we already had to see. #messed up @ABC I'm looking at you too."

“ABC did not show South Carolina winning the Best Team award! I am so angry!”, another said.

One commenter explained, “#espys messed up, hit the 11:30 pm local news cutoff and missed the entire Prince Harry segment – wow!!”

Another added, “ESPYs ran over their allotted time. ABC gave affiliates the usual 35 minute slot to air local news. Then the ESPYs continued.”
